Storages and locations

A storage is what physically holds stock: a shelf, a case, a room, a drawer, or a vehicle. Every stock adjustment names a storage, so its page answers “What is on this shelf right now?”

You can add photos to storages. When a shelf is easier to recognize by appearance than by name, a photo is the quickest way to confirm you have found the right one.

A location groups storages by physical place: a building, a floor, a site, or a vehicle. Locations are optional; add them when storage names alone are no longer enough to tell them apart. Two rooms can both have a “Shelf A” if they are in different locations.

You can add an address and a map pin to a location. This lets you answer “Where is Vehicle 2?” from your phone.

Deleting a location does not delete its storages. They remain unassigned and can be moved to another location. This is intentional: a location labels a group of storages, and removing that label must not remove the stock.

Location “Warehouse 1F”
├── Storage “Shelf A” → Packing Tape 8
├── Storage “Shelf B” → Gloves 3
└── Storage “Backroom” → Packing Tape 4

The item “Packing Tape” shows a total of 12 across two storages in one location.
